When you look at the size, look, and
in-ring ability, Duncum Jr had the tools to become a star, but because Duncum
Jr was taken from the wrestling world too soon, we will never find out what
could have been for the big Texan.

After a two-year hiatus from
wrestling, Duncum Jr would make his in-ring return with All Japan Pro Wrestling
(AJPW) teaming up with Gary Albright, Joel Deaton in a winning effort against
Eagle, Lacrosse, and The Patriot. Duncum Jr would wrestle in single and six-man
tag team matches for the next two years with AJPW and would make appearances
with Continental Wrestling Alliance. In 1997, Duncum Jr would debut with
Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and would split time between AJPW and ECW.
His last match in ECW was in a loss to Mikey Whipwreck in 1998, and later in
1998 he would wrap up his time in AJPW in a tag team match where he would team
with Stan Hansen in a losing effort against Gary Albright and Yoshihiro
Takayama.
In November 1998, Duncum Jr would
debut on as a fan favourite with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in a win
against the WCW World Television Championship, Chris Jericho, but would not win
the title as Jericho got himself counted out. Six days later Duncum Jr would
meet Jericho at World War 3 for the title but would lose via pinfall. Duncum Jr
would defeat Jericho twice during house shows before ending his feud with
Jericho in defeat during an episode of Thunder. Following his feud with
Jericho, Duncum Jr would form a tag team with Mike Enos, the team with
short-lived and by 1999 Duncum Jr had become a villain and joined The West
Texas Rednecks.
